What are Foundation Trusts?

Foundation Trusts are membership organisations.  Members are made up of local people, patients or carers of patients – both local and national – and staff. If you live in Lambeth or Southwark and apply for membership you will become a member in the public constituency of the Foundation Trust. If you live outside these two boroughs, you will become a patient member.

Members elect a Board of Governors – at least half of whom are representatives of the local population and patients. 

What do members do?

• Members receive regular information about the hospital.

• Are able to take part in the election of representatives to sit on the Board of Governors. 

• Eligible to stand for election to the Board of Governors.

• Members are also invited to attend
  • Seminars about services at King’s. Led by our clinical staff,  providing an overview of services we provide and conditions we treat.
  • Community meetings to discuss our future direction and meet with Governors.
  • Meetings of the Board of Directors and Board of Governors. Events Calendar.
• Consultation and action.  There are a number of issues that we would like to involve our members in more directly, including single issue campaigns and service consultations

• Feedback their opinions on the future direction of the hospital through their elected Governor representative.

• Get involved in a range of projects to help improve services at King's
