Get involved

We have a range of projects in which you can get involved, from ongoing consultations and committees to one-off focus groups that advise our service improvement projects. You can take part even if you have only limited time or simply want to share your experiences at King's with us.

We are keen to involve as many people as possible in the work of the Trust, including patients, members of the local community and our Foundation Trust Members.

Working with you

Here are some of the ways in which we enable people to talk to us, take part in developing our services and shape what we do in the future:

Young Members
Involving young people
Lambeth College: Students at Lambeth College, a local further education college, volunteer at King’s and take part in our Partnership Challenges as part of a programme of work with local businesses and organisations. For example, for our Research and Communication Challenge, students designed user-friendly patient information leaflets about sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing for Camberwell Sexual Health Centre.
Helping to train staff
There is no better way for trainees to understand what makes a good patient experience than to hear it directly from a patient. Our Members are helping to train King’s College London healthcare students by sharing their patient stories and experiences.
Campaigns and consultations
Improving Denmark Hill station: Foundation Trust Members have played a leading role in the successful campaign to speed up work to improve disabled access at Denmark Hill railway station.
Redesigning King’s Emergency Department: patients, the public and our Members took part in focus groups as part of our consultation on the redesign of King’s Emergency Department. Their feedback led us to make changes such as making the ED larger and installing a designated area for patients with mental health needs.

Focus groups and committees

At these forums you can share with us your experiences of specific areas of interest, such as maternity services, quality of patient care and food standards and explore ways they can be improved.

In Your Shoes
In Your Shoes is all about listening to our patients to improve the quality of the care we provide.
Improving Patient Nutrition
At King’s we recognise that good nutrition is critical in caring for our patients and we are always looking to improve our food service.
Maternity Services Liaison Committee
Mums as well as midwives, doctors and other health professionals meet to help us improve maternity care and facilities for parents and babies.
Cancer Voices
Cancer Voices is a group made up of patients, relatives and carers affected by cancer and health professionals. We are working together to improve local cancer services in South East London.
